No, it's not a giant crackpipe

It's the Washington Monument, which I snapped from the window of a cab while racing to catch an early morning flight, sometime in 1989, I believe.

The scan doesn't do the view, or even the original picture, justice.  Looking at this thing with the sunrise,
you can almost forget about all the people sleeping on the lawn, just a few yards away.
